This month marks the 2 year anniversary of 26 and Counting.
Weird. Where has the time gone? Last I remember, I was that intimated girl taking outfit photos on my iPhone, hesitant to share them with anyone. It’s funny how things change, but kind of stay the same. After 400+ posts, this blog is still mostly unknown to my family and friends. While many of you have become friends in real life, this little space is
something I keep a bit separate. Maybe I’m still intimated on some level, or fearful that friends will think this blog is frivolous and self-indulgent.
Maybe
it is…
But then I remember that I started this blog as a space to encourage myself to try a bit more with my style every day. 2 years ago, I was finally feeling settled in at a new job and while I originally loved shopping for “work” clothes, I was bored with all the pairs of black dress pants and cardigan sets stacked in my closet {although I do still love a good cardi}. So I took a big gulp, got over my fear of the internet and just went for it -- iPhone photos and all. While there have differently been some ups and downs, I love that is little internet corner keeps me motivated
to try new styles and be more creative on a daily basis.
That's not to say things haven't changed. I got a tripod for starters. But honestly, a lot of great things have come out of this blog. Outside of gaining a little self-confidence, I have this blog to thank for a lot of new friends. Some of those friends still blog, others have veered in another direction, and some don't blog at all now. Either way, I'm very thankful for the friendships and inspiration that have developed from this community.
But something about blogging is different these days. The community I felt 2 years ago, even a year ago, feels smaller and less connected. Sometimes I wonder if a bit of that is me. I started graduate school, started reading and
commenting on less on other blogs, and my own posting fluctuated. But when it comes down to it, I still love style blogging.
This is by no means, a blogging sendoff. I'll still be here posting work outfits and sharing random tidbits of my life. I didn't intend for this to get so wordy, but if you can't share your thoughts on blogging on your blog birthday month, when can you? If you've stuck with me through this entire post -- thank you! Thank you is probably something I should say more often. Thanks for checking back here whenever you do. If I don't always say it, I do always appreciate it! Now, let's find a cake {any excuse, right?}!
